They told me I could be anything, so I became Batman. My first impressions of Batman: Arkham Knight.

I’m not gonna ramble too much about Arkham Knight just yet because I’m going to save my final thoughts for a review of the game itself. Here are just a few things I took away from Arkham Knight so far.

The Batmobile: At first, the Batmobile rubbed me the wrong way while starting Arkham Knight; it felt sluggish, slow, and not necessary. Over the course of a day or so, I’ve warmed up to it a bit. For one thing, the expanded map in Arkham Knight is huge; it’s like they’re signalling you to use it as much as possible. I wasn’t a fan of it at first but after getting used to it, it’s been a fun change of pace. The best utilized purpose of the Batmobile is when I got to use it for the Riddler challenges; those have been a great feature for the Batmobile.

The Arkham Knight: It’s pretty obvious that the main villain you will be facing off against is the Arkham Knight. The Arkham Knight is working with the Scarecrow to take down Batman and he’s a master tactician. You can tell straight off-the-bat (no pun intended) that something set this guy off; I haven’t got far enough to know what set the Arkham Knight but he’s been an interesting villain so far in the story.

The expanded Gotham City: Rocksteady told us that they were planning to make Gotham bigger than ever and boy, they weren’t lying. So far, I haven’t even scratched the surface of Gotham. The expanded map is so big that it reminds me of GTA V when that first hit shelves a few years ago. While not as big as GTA V’s map, Arkham Knight’s environment is much bigger in comparison to Arkham City’s game. I can’t wait to explore much more of this awesome city.

Those are my first impressions so far and I haven’t even gotten that far in the game as of yet. I’m at about 10% regarding my progress in Arkham Knight. In a few days, I may have beaten the game but probably not. The game is so big and there’s so much to do in Gotham. So far, my purchase of Arkham Knight is being validated and I think this may be a great send-off for the Arkham trilogy.

Did you notice any glitches in game or issues with the framerate? I’m a PC gamer and I’ve only heard bad news about the PC port on Steam reviews etc. I’m guessing they optimized it WAY better for PS4.

I didn’t really notice any issues so far with the PS4 version for the PS4 but I’ve heard some bad things regarding the PC version which is unfortunate.

I’ll probably wait for a while until they give it a few solid patches and there’s some sale months from now. Just a shame a AAA title like this has such a bad port.

I feel like they did focus a bit more on actual consoles because they know PC gamers wait for a sale anyway. I think it’s ridiculous but that’s just how those companies think. They make the most bang for their buck via Sony and Microsoft.

Check out MRG’s thoughts on Batman: Arkham Knight.
They pretty much mirror mine, except for the Batmobile thing.
Curse that wretched hunk of steel and rubber. = P
